A Late Birthday Party / MAY 26, 2063 Night

[ After a short "vacation" at Tokyo, Brianna sends a text to her friends. It's a general invitation that stretches from her blade mates to her mentors, to well, the whole of Netsach (as long as she knows them. Also extends to some Zangyaku friends). Of course, she asks her parents for permission first. ]

Hello friend! It would make me very happy if you could make it to Haven this Saturday to celebrate my 520th birthday. Drinks on me. :)

You do that. I've never died myself, but I know a couple of people who have and it's a thing they'd rather not repeat.

[ The kid's smiling at you then, shrugging and taking another drag off that cig. ]

[ Brig just smiles at her. Also very glad she didn't take a bite of his wrists. ]

Yeah, it was. It's all I knew but it was enough and I was happy.

Because curious. Her Uncle Hikaru gets around, so new faces are assumed to be a thing -- but you're here, at the party of Aunt Tala's new protege and her mom seems to like you. ]

Then take those memories and keep them. Think too hard on what's normal and what's not and you might give yourself heartache over nothing.

[ He's gonna ask for another mudslide shooter, and look out at the party while he waits. In the meantime, he turns to Maggie and jerks his head out onto the dance floor. ]

Uncle Hikaruuuu~ [ she's going to loop her arm around yours now. ] Seriously, what's his story? You always find the cute ones. And usually they're interesting.

[ That'd be a terribly long story ]

We first met back in World War II. Fifty years later, he had passed onto me letters an old friend had written but which never reached me. Then we met again a few months back [ A soft smile ] when he found and brought back to me a man I thought I'd lost so long ago.

Awwh... [ The pout's formed on his face before he follows your gaze, but it breaks into an utterly huge smile when he realizes who it's fallen on. ]

Okay! But you an' me are gonna dance sometime!

[ What you see next is him speed off and go to your mother's side, whispering in her ear. ]

It's all right. I'm pretty open about it really

[ He lights up a new cigarette ]

I'm doing okay. It took a bit of getting used to at first. [ A breath ] I think everyone expected I'd grab desperately at what most people consider a "normal" life.

[kinesthesia]

[ That's an interesting take. ]

What is it that you want then?

[ because wanting is a trait of anyone who's ever breathed -- human, supernatural, or otherwise. ]

[ She's pawing at her nose while she listens to you, before she settles back down on that little nest you put together for her.

Her eyes are back your way though, when she speaks back into your head.

( Life works out funny like that. It's nice to know that Uncle and you reconnected. )

She is naturally filing all this away at the back of her curious mind. She's clearly missed a lot in recent months, so maybe staying home for a while and catching up will be a good idea after all.

[ She's going to watch you go and lift a glass her mother's way when you finally get her to lean in, down that shot and head off to do the rest of her rounds.

Or bother her brother. Whichever comes first. ]

[ Wow, you listen to really old stuff. How old are you again?

He'll just shake his head at that and then takes a final drag from his cigarette before he kills it on the nearest ashtray. ]

[ He'll be taking another swig off that wine bottle now, eyes all sparkly.

After he sets that on the table, he lights up again. ]

[ And he's going to resist the sudden urge to quirk a brow in your direction and instead clap you lightly on the shoulder as he gets up. He's had enough time to get a feel of the kind of person you are, but that shiny-eyed look you have is making him a bit twitchy. ]

I'm going to get back to work.

[ This People thing is awkward. ]
