It's time to spoil the blade baby! Plus other May 14 birthday-related shenanigans like candy-shopping, checking out the mural, pulling out favors, etc.

[ The first time Josh had ever laid eyes on Tala Vega, he'd thought she was pretty scary; the way beautiful and deadly things were scary.

Watching her chatter away with Wiseman Tagabigay quietly just taking all of what she says in -- Josh is pretty sure he doesn't want to cross Tala. Ever.

He redirects his attention to Brianna, tries to see what she's looking at. He hasn't quite figured out what to get her, so he's going to pitch that she pick something out and he'll pay for it instead. ] Whatcha lookin' at, Bri?

[ She's actually looking at everything and nothing all at the same time. Everything looks neat and all, but she feels like there's something she's supposed to buy. Something important, she just can't quite put her finger on it.

She looks at Josh with a thoughtful look on her face. ]

Uhm, nothing much really. I feel like there's something we should be buying for someone...

[ He slips his hands into his jacket pockets and smiles. ] Well, I still have to get you your present.

[ And because sharing the breakfast table with Sara Shinta had reminded him: ] And uh, remember in South Korea when you said you'd help me go buy candy for Sara Shinta? Maybe we could do that.

[ He hazards another look at where Selene is smirking and shaking her head, her brother-in-law attempting to retreat into work on his tablet only to find it snatched away neatly by Tala. ]

Think they'd let us wander off on our own?

[ She follows Josh's gaze and giggles. ]

Oops! Yeah, I'm sorry we let that drag on for too long. We should really get to that, huh... We can ask them, I don't think they'll mind. This place is pretty safe for us anyway.

[ That sounds like an excellent idea -- what was it Kaz was so fond of saying? G? G. ]

I think I'll leave you to do the asking though. I'm just along for the trip. [ Y...yeah. He finds Tala really intimidating. ]

[ That she can do. Or, well, Tala pretty much told her she can do whatever she wants, right?

To be safe, she shoots Tala a text letting her know that she and Josh are skipping off to buy candy.

As soon as she's done, she looks at Josh. ]

I think we're good to go!

Alright then, [ he smiles then and offers his arm. It's a cute gesture that just comes naturally because... well, this is Brianna. What other reason does he need? ]

Let's go hunt up some candy.

[ And she keenly slings her arm around his. She doesn't mind, really. It's Josh, after all.

Also she's feeling extra protective because she might have spotted some Japanese teenagers stare and giggle at Josh, so~ ]

There should be tons of stores around here. Japanese people love candy and they have so many kinds, it's almost crazy!

[ Oh, he'd sighted the candy. Some had pretty interesting flavors and he's already thinking that getting one of each for as much as he and you can afford will be a good way to get back into Sara Shinta's good graces.

He's utterly oblivious about the girls throwing looks his way though.

It's Josh, go figure. ]

Do you have any favorites? Sara mentioned a couple that she likes-- [ it was a long enough list, but if they can't find everything, then better to have an idea of what else they could get their hands on, right? ]

[ Oh, Brianna loves candy. She indulges occasionally, but yes, she does have favorites. ]

Yeah, I love the strawberry and cream flavored ones. So good! You think we should get some for Sara? I think you should try some as well.

[ Talking at the speed of sound, this one. As usual.

Don't worry Josh, she's going to help you with this in more ways than one. ]

I am game for whatever you think Sara might like, and sure. Why not. [ He hasn't really indulged in sweets in a while -- not since he was a wee in any case -- but the offer from Brianna does make him smile.

Following wherever you lead now, Miss Lopez, though he does sight one store and backtracks just a little. ]

Hey, Bri. Wanna check that one out?

[ She glances back at him and slows down her walk, trying to spot which one he's pointing to. ]

Hm? Which one?

[ It doesn't appear to be anything particularly special -- outside of the fact that besides the interior appearing to be lined floor to ceiling with shelves bursting with a variety of sweets, there are also tables outside piled with boxed candy.

He's canting his head towards the shop now, right before he leads the way and when he stops by one table he only has one comment: ]

I have never seen so many Kitkat flavors in my entire life.

[ Deadpan. Dead serious. Pun intended, btw. ]

[ That merits a chuckle from Brianna. ]

I know. It's amazing, right? Like how did they ever even think of putting this in a Kitkat bar?

[ She's approaches the table and picks out a few of the odd flavors. ]

[ You're telling him.

As it is, Josh has picked up a package that shows a picture of Wasabi on the wrapping. He's holding it up at you as he whispers: ]

Wasabi and chocolate? How does that even... work?

It's actually not bad!

[ She's waving at one of the attendants inside the store, then turning her attention back to Josh. ]

Why don't you try it for yourself? I wouldn't be so fast to assume immediately that you'd like it.

[ He's turning back to the box now, and making a face. ]

But... wasabi.

[ He got some on his food earlier. The tip of his tongue still feels like it's burned.

Picking up another box now, one with a more appealing flavor. ] Cheesecake?

That's great too, but you have to try it at least once!

[ Holding up the wasabi Kitkat and smiling at him. ]

If you don't like it, I'll finish it for you. I swear!

[ Quirking a brow at you and trying ( failing ) to bite back a smile.

Okay, fine. It's your birthday. ]

Alright, alright. I'll try it.

[ And then smiling up at the sales person who comes your way before he glances back at all that candy and chocolate. ]

Help me pick. We might as well choose the stuff for Sara and then grab some for ourselves and we can sit somewhere and sample these.

[ Hesitating for a bit - but fine.. ]

Okay maybe I can set aside my diet for this. It's not everyday we get to just grab all these KitKat!

[ Already poking through the pile, showing and telling Josh the interesting flavors they might like: strawberry, pear, cinnamon, strawberry...cheesecake (??), blueberry cheesecake, matcha, brown sugar... and lots more. ]

[ And he is making a face when you make mention of the word 'diet', because honestly? You've always looked great?

By the time you're both done, it's not just the Kitkat that you've purchased. The table outside was apparently just the tip of the proverbial iceberg because the inside of the store had loads and loads more to choose from. ]

I don't suppose little girls who are spirits that can actually eat are going to end up with tummy-aches? [ He's chuckling that as he finds you both a bench to sit down at, all the while peering down at the bag he's got for Sara and the smaller one he'd scored for Cindy.

He's going to wait for you to sit down before he does though. ]

[ Shrugging her shoulders while smiling at the diet thing, cos this is something she's been doing for a while. Technically, her mom's a real health junkie who likes serving healthy things all the time. She does let them indulge from time to time though, thankfully.

She takes a seat beside him. ]

I hope that doesn't happen, or else we'll be in a bit of a pickle. [ Grinning at Josh. ]

Yeah, [ grinning at his blademate now, as he pops open a box of the strawberry Kitkat to take a bite.

Holy-- ]

Wow.

[ Taking another bite now. ]

[ Endearingly laughing at Josh's reaction. ]
