A Late Birthday Party / MAY 26, 2063 Night

[ After a short "vacation" at Tokyo, Brianna sends a text to her friends. It's a general invitation that stretches from her blade mates to her mentors, to well, the whole of Netsach (as long as she knows them. Also extends to some Zangyaku friends). Of course, she asks her parents for permission first. ]

Hello friend! It would make me very happy if you could make it to Haven this Saturday to celebrate my 520th birthday. Drinks on me. :)

[Kaz, unfortunately, is kind of shaken. But he is a Zobel de Ayala, and being social is a thing that comes with being one, so he does steel himself a little and smiles]

Hi. Uh, thanks. The necklace was... a gift from someone special.

[If he makes it sound a little more like the necklace was a gift from Nico and not Cisco, it's only 'cause he's not sure what to do in these kinds of situations, so he goes with the vague sort of statement. He does, however, lean against the bar as well in an attempt to be more casual.]

[ Already grabbing a few more drinks, just to prove a point.

Fyeah it's her birthday, and also liquid courage makes her feel like she can jump through a wall, and like she can take on anything. Like a bear. ]

[ She takes one of the drinks from Brianna, even if it wasn't meant for her. ]

Then I'll just have to make sure you won't cause too much trouble.

[ Tihee. At least she's not dealing with someone who's on mommy mode right now. ]

Oh psh, I won't, I promise! At least not too much. Good thing you're way stronger than me right?

[ So, Yulia's quiet. She's checking her phone every now and then, looks around, takes her drink. She is... bored. And a little antsy. She looks grateful to the bartender when the bottle of vodka arrives, and immediately asks for a shot.

What now, Kaz? ]

[ She's smiling when she takes a drink from her glass. ]

Do not let the others make you think otherwise.

[ That knocks Brianna a bit back on the Drunkness Meter. ]

Oh wow, that was so sweet thank you! [ Have a nice, warm hug, Yulia. ]

[Kaz relaxes into the couch and nods. He only understands too well the need for space. He knows what it's like to be unable to people.]  

I do know the feeling.  

[He shrugs and digs out his cigs, pulling a nearby ashtray closer. Being polite, he asks before he lights up.]

Yep. So... Wanna dance, birthday girl?

I don't suppose you'd want to --

[That thought gets cut off in its tracks as he catches Yulia's look. Kaz gets the feeling that if he asks her to dance, it wouldn't be pretty, so he settles for ordering another bottle for Yulia, on him.

He pats her shoulder briefly to get her attention and leans in to whisper:]

The mezzanine is quieter, there're couches and you can smoke up there. I ordered another bottle, just in case.

[He smiles at her and backs away to respect her space, and then saunters off, raising a hand as he leaves to say See you later, Yulia.]

[ Grinning at Kaz from ear to ear. Finally, a boy she can dance with without having to feel awkward.

Plus, the other boys who don't know Kaz (and don't know he's gay AND taken) won't bother to approach Brianna anymore.

Perfect. ]

[ She's already making her way to the dance floor, waiting for Kaz to catch on. ]

[Kaz smiles at Brianna as she moves off, just as the beat explodes to life, or at least one that'll really start you dancing. The leather jacket draped across his shoulders feels a little on the warm side now that he thinks about it, so he shrugs it off and is looking for a place to stash it when a familiar voice calls out to him:

Give it here, Kaz.

Cisco already has a hand out for it as she leans out from behind the bar, smiling at him in a way he can only describe as the go-have-fun smile.

He hands it to her and gives her a kiss on the cheek, promising to retrieve it later. He turns and looks out at the crowd on the dance floor, Brianna among them. And oh you wouldn't think he could dance, but he moves with the beat, flowing in a way that betrays confidence on the dance floor unlike his normal self.]

[ Er. Okay. Hugs. She hasn't had those in... a very long time. Have a bit of awkward pats on the back, Bri. ]

[ She's already began ahead of Kaz, but as he steps on the dance floor and starts busting out some moves, she's grinning. She wouldn't expect Kaz to be so smooth on the dance floor, given how nervous he would be and even second-guessing himself sometimes.

Maybe it's the alcohol, she thinks to herself. Or maybe Kaz is just really feeling more than himself tonight?

Whatever it is, she's happy to see Kaz lose himself that way.

She moves closer to Kaz with a big smile on her face because no way is someone else dancing with my buddy! If there's someone in the immediate vicinity that Kaz will dance with, it's me, the birthday girl! ]

[ Too happy and tipsy to realize that was awkward, heee.

She pulls away and winks at Yulia. ]

Well, I guess I should leave you to your drinks now. Again, don't hesitate to just keep getting, okay? I want you to have fun tonight!

[ Grinning back at Deirdra as he graciously accepts that bottle -- has he ever told you how much he loves you, Dee? ]

Said she'd catch up in a bit. [ Nodding back to the kid. ] Kid need a boost from the gods of alcohol?

That reminds him -- fishing out his own pack now, lighting up and taking that first, long and satisfying drag. ]

Taking a swig, turning back to his laptop, but don't worry, his attention's still mostly on you. ]

Oh, I don't know about annoying. Although Dad did refer to you once as a charming fuck, and that at least Mom had the good sense to go for him and not fall for your wiles.
