[ After a short "vacation" at Tokyo, Brianna sends a text to her friends. It's a general invitation that stretches from her blade mates to her mentors, to well, the whole of Netsach (as long as she knows them. Also extends to some Zangyaku friends). Of course, she asks her parents for permission first. ]

Hello friend! It would make me very happy if you could make it to Haven this Saturday to celebrate my 520th birthday. Drinks on me. :)

[ She's making an oh, okay face that is far more amused than it is apologetic.

[ Social smoker, this one. Never keeping a lighter means getting to bug other people for theirs. A person's choice of lighter can tell a lot about them, after all. ]

You should really get your own lighter.

[Grousing, even though he knows your habits and is already handing his lighter over.]

[ Lighting up now, taking one glorious drag before she studies yours. ]

But I like having an excuse to be nosy about people's tells.

[ A person's choice of cigarettes tells her a lot about personal taste and preference. A Zippo or something equally similar, make and style and how banged up it looks tells her how long they've been smoking, how careless or careful they are with their habit, and how much time they invest in it. Just as a lighter that is bought from the convenience store ( and how many they own ) clues her in immediately on other things.

Then make sure you have a lighter with people who already know you.

[Grousing, of course. He's never going to admit that he is kind of proud of the fact that you remember what he's taught you.]

But there's always someone with a lighter anyway. [ Her parents, Renae, her blade, people she can charm and bully when they refuse to be charmed.

But anyway-- ] So, Uncle's got a new daughter. She's nice.

[ Looking away now, taking a drag and relishing the fact that she gets to taste one of your cigs. She bullied her blade mate into keeping a pack, by the by. It helps her sleep at night when a hit doesn't go well. ]

Seems like she is.

[...And that's all he's going to say of Brianna Lopez. He still doesn't know what to make of her yet, or of the fact that she seems to default into seeing him as her other father just because of his association with Tala Vega.]
