A Late Birthday Party / MAY 26, 2063 Night

[ After a short "vacation" at Tokyo, Brianna sends a text to her friends. It's a general invitation that stretches from her blade mates to her mentors, to well, the whole of Netsach (as long as she knows them. Also extends to some Zangyaku friends). Of course, she asks her parents for permission first. ]

Hello friend! It would make me very happy if you could make it to Haven this Saturday to celebrate my 520th birthday. Drinks on me. :)

Hey! Wow, you look awfully like Cisco! Are you like, related to her or something?

[ Oh, she likes you.

( She was watching, of course. It's why she's here, to make the rounds a little easier on Dad -- and the staff, but most importantly her dad -- and if it meant getting a good look at the Changeling taken under the Vega sister's protective wings, well.

Beaming back. ] Happy birthday! And yeah, she's my mom. I love your dress.

[ Because shiny. Sparkly. ]

[ Squealing because ohmygosh small world, right?

Okay, not really. Just coincidence, okay. ]

Aww, thank you! So, having fun?

[ Actually, definitely small now that she's home -- only not, because Wolf's Choice? Heh.

Grinning back and nodding. ] Swinging party. Great music, the best people around. [ Relaxing a little, but still alert.

And then--

--Sniff. Discreet inhale.

Huh. Changeling? Well, that makes sense. Not that big a guess since, Tala. Selene. But there's also the hint of sweet-smelling flowers? ]

Am sort of "on duty"-- [ casual shrug, smiling sweetly ] --my Dad's doing the rounds, so are the staff. When we heard a birthday was happening, we wanted to make sure that things would go smoothly.

[ Aaand swiping two shots from one of said staff making the rounds. One for you, one for her. ] To the birthday girl.

[ She's on duty, but she's still game to do shots?

Yup, Brianna definitely likes this one. ]

That's cool. I think the party's well-managed as it is though, thank you. For both overseeing things and for this.

[ She raises up her shot glass. ]

Cheers, [ saluting her glass and knocking it back hell, yes and then grinning at Brianna as she leans against the wall to whisper conspiratorially: ] Our secret, okay? [ Cue fond eyeroll. ] My mom is fine with me drinking because it's a party, and I'm home but she's surprisingly handed my leash to my dad.

Also hi, I'm Maggie. Brianna, right?

[ She's done her homework. War Hounds, the Blade King's rather eyebrow-lifting entourage at Seigi during the Measuring blah blah blah. And four out of six are cute and/or not taken. By the smell.of things. ]

[ Giggling at that. Yup, parents. Good thing hers aren't around to restrain her. Well, she loves them and they're used to her being out having fun anyway, killing things... Accompanying the most powerful people around... Yeap. ]

Oh, don't worry. I got you Maggie! [ Winking then extending her hand. ] Yes, that's me.

[ Yeah, she really likes you.

Taking that hand now and looping your arm through hers, grinning all the while. ]

This is why we will be friends. So, War Hounds, right? [ A beat. ] Yeah, I'm nosy, my mom likes you, and you're Uncle Hikaru's new little girl.

[ She says those things with genuine feeling. Her philosophy is simple after all: she's nosy because she cares, her mother is the most important female figure in her life, and Hikaru Shinta had once taught her and her brother the Art of Being Nuisances. ]

Oh my God yay I love having new friends! [ Grinning and going all squeee! silently. ]

You do know a bit about me, hihi.

[ How are you so adorable, my God.

She's getting a well, YEAH look on her face.

But, seriously. ] Just some.

I haven't been home in a while, Midnight Rider and all.

But new friends are totally my thing and while I'm not as close to Aunt Tala as I am to Mama Dee, you're kind of extended family now. Of a sort.

Besides, [ sliding a look over to one Hikaru Shinta who is -- hm. She's been noting that, the boy. What was his name again? Something with a J... John or... Jake... oh right. Josh.

But anyway-- ] Blade King's third daughter. I guess that kind of makes you a cousin? [ Have a face that goes: I... think? ]

[ And Brianna lets out a big laugh at that. ]

Yeah, that works. We're all family here anyway, right?

[ And she's thinking now that if coming home means she gets to check up on you more, then her father's little intervention might not be so bad. ]

Damn straight. [ Snagging two more shots. ]

Hey. I have to do my rounds, but I will be here all night being the nuisance that your Daddy taught me to be.

[ Handing one to you now. ] I'll get your number later, okay? I'm on the road after my week is up, but since I'm going to be back more regularly, it'll be nice to see you and chill out.

[ She means it. And it's not just because of Uncle Hikaru or Aunt Tala or the fact that her mother, if she has her intel from Renae right, has grown surprisingly attached to you new kids. ]

[ She hands her phone out with a smile, exchanging it for that shot. ]

Sure, I'll take your number too. I would really like that. Girl friends are always welcome!

[maggienificent]

[ And she's taking that phone, downing that shot and typing in her digits with a flourish before she rings the phone that's tucked in her pocket before she hands your phone back to you. ]

Tell me about it. [ A shrug now. ] Foxtrot is 50/50 male and female, but in the morning it's just me and Chie, because Tatjana sleeps.

Good thing the boys had the good sense to appoint me as leader.

[ That amuses her. ]

I'm sure they made a sound decision. It's just Yulia and I in the blade who are girls.

[maggienificent]

[ You're getting a gentle bump to the shoulder at that. ]

Well, it's always good to have an ally in a sausage party.
