A Late Birthday Party / MAY 26, 2063 Night

[ After a short "vacation" at Tokyo, Brianna sends a text to her friends. It's a general invitation that stretches from her blade mates to her mentors, to well, the whole of Netsach (as long as she knows them. Also extends to some Zangyaku friends). Of course, she asks her parents for permission first. ]
SENT: 03:00 PM
Hello friend! It would make me very happy if you could make it to Haven this Saturday to celebrate my 520th birthday. Drinks on me. :)
- OOC note: Feel free to tag in whenever you like, whatever you like.
- May 21, 2063: Date of text
- May 26, 2063: Date of party

Yeah. They're not that fun. [ She doesn't mean to find Cen in the crowd -- she just does. ] I was a terrible homebody. Only ever ventured into clubs to dance and only when I was dragged out by that one.

[ She's really just waiting for her husband to look over -- but he's busy and she knows how he gets when he's busy, so she turns back to the Promethean. ]
How goes training in Kibo?
no subject
Training with An'yu-sama is going quick as to transmutations really. [ A pause ] But I think my overall training in Zangyaku is something I'm lagging behind in.
no subject
How so? [ She's knows that you live in the West District, has actually seen the little girl and her mother, though she's never taken the opportunity to approach. ] I thought that training in Kibo would be helpful in that regard.

[ He thinks of how Taning and Yulia fit so well in their armor. How it shows how well they've integrated. He rolls his shoulders as a boxer would do before he steps into the ring; there's an itch to go out and do something physical. ]
no subject
Deliberately relaxing against the bar now. ]
I'm not as involved in Zangyaku as I should be, [ have an apologetic look your way, Brigade. ] But you're in good with An'yu. And there are always calls for patrols, even if they're not as eventful as they could be in other spaces.
[ She smiles then. ] Go ask. I don't have the same intel on you as Eli does, but I've seen you move. Maybe the kids in Kibo could learn a thing or two from an old vet like yourself.

Then maybe if you can't imagine what you could teach, think about what you could learn from them. [ she runs an idle hand through her hair, gaze scanning the area briefly and then focusing her attention back to her companion. ] Learning goes both ways, after all.
[ And then, teasingly: ] Unless you're the kind of old dog that can't pick up new tricks.

I guess I can share experience and long years. And I'm sure they'll teach me how to fly using that part of me which I've ignored for too long. [ Old man, young Promethean ]

I like the attitude you've got there, soldier. [ And because of that, she's gesturing now to the staff behind the bar and then holding that one's gaze for a bit. ]
And because of that, humor this old fox and let her buy you a beer.
[ Right on cue, there's one being set by your elbow. Yes, it is the label you prefer. Yes, you may ask her how she knew. ]
no subject
Thank you, Ma'am. [ He smiles genuinely ] But I'm just curious as to how you knew I liked Corona in particular.
no subject
--and then laugh and shrug. ]
Just kidding. I asked the bartender what you've been ordering, but technically, yes, I can tell what people like to drink based on smell alone.
[ Because Keen Senses, awyeah. ]

I'm sure you'll find some. It's all about balancing the Vigil with the lives we lead, right?
[ She'd gotten a lot of reminders for that, in the beginning. And it worked out, for the most part. ]
no subject
I'm working on that. [ A half-smile at that ] Getting used to it.
[ He spins the drink in his bottle. Yeah, he's thinking on how he didn't know what a "normal" "life" was when he arrived in Falner. Normal was just going back into the fight. You can prod him more about it.:) His reflection face is showing. ]
no subject
After a moment though: ] What's on your mind, soldier?
no subject
The last time I had a semblance of life before Falner was in WWII. [ A swig of his beer ] And that wasn't really normal when I look back on it now.
no subject
Was it normal at the time?
[ A hand on your arm now, Brig. ] Don't think of how it compares to today -- was it normal back then?
no subject
Yeah, it was. It's all I knew but it was enough and I was happy.
[ The physical contact is comforting. Physical contact is always comforting. ]
no subject
Then take those memories and keep them. Think too hard on what's normal and what's not and you might give yourself heartache over nothing.
[ Canting her head curiously to one side now. ]
Are you having a hard time adjusting? [ A beat, and then, softly: ] I don't mean to pry, and I won't ask any more if you'd rather not talk about it.
no subject
[ He lights up a new cigarette ]
I'm doing okay. It took a bit of getting used to at first. [ A breath ] I think everyone expected I'd grab desperately at what most people consider a "normal" life.
no subject
What is it that you want then?
[ because wanting is a trait of anyone who's ever breathed -- human, supernatural, or otherwise. ]
no subject
I don't know, really. [ He genuinely doesn't ] Maybe just a bit of time? [ Time always helps to process things. ] I guess I'll figure it out with time.
