[ That arm is now moving to Brianna's waist; loose, comfy, before it falls away because she seems alright now and he doesn't really like getting all up in her space.

He's not looking at the guys anymore. They really, really do not matter. He doesn't turn his focus away from Brianna again though, not until they go.

Softly now, and easing back to give his blademate room: ] You okay?

[ She looked like she was handling it and his respect for her has gone up at that. Then again, she's given him the impression that she's gone to clubs before. He probably... had nothing to worry about, but this is Josh. He likes making sure. ]

[ At first, she's nodding but the latter statement takes her by surprise. ]

Maybe we'll find something in one of these stores?

[ She lets out a small laugh-like huff, while staring softly at the floor.

No use lying to Aria since Brianna feels comfortable around her. ]

Some dreams aren't as pleasant as I want them to be. Some remnants from before...sneak in sometimes.

[ She perks up after that though, dismissing that thought. ]

Other times, I dream of beaches, mountains and other types of scenery.

That does sound nice.

[Hmm. She won't go into that first statement of yours just yet.]

Care to bring me to a great place to sit in here? So that we can catch up properly.

[And so that she can get to the bottom of things for you. You're not exactly friends yet (or are you?), but you are Liandrin Delacroix's current student, and Hikaru's newest daughter. She wants to look out for you.]

[ And she takes Aria to a spot in her garden. It's a bit in the center, but it's surrounded by high shrubs and big, big flowers. There is a garden swing set with a canopy that can comfortably seat two. ]

Is this an okay spot for you?

[ She's quite proud of this particular spot. A bit of imagination, a bit of taste in furniture. ]

[ An ashtray pops up in front of them. ]

[ He's going to answer that sheepish smile with an encouraging one of his own. ]

C'mon, Bri... there must be something.

[ He's being incredibly... earnest. He really does want to get Brianna a present. ]

[ His arm is going to come back up instinctively to draw her up against his side -- it's nothing more than a hug an older brother might give a kid sister, and it's so natural that Josh doesn't even think; he just does it.

Brianna's also going to get a dropped kiss right on the top of her head. He's been going through some readings on Changeling and the workings of a "fetch" and while he hasn't read that far, he already knows he doesn't like them. Period. ]

You're here now. [ He says that softly, eyes fixed on hers.

Shitty things happened to good people. It wasn't fair or right, but it sometimes couldn't be helped. The Sin-Eater hadn't known what to make of his blademate the first time they'd ever met in Inquisitor Gideon Reyes' class -- but she's one of 'his people' now, and that counts for a lot.

Besides. Who else was he going to talk to music about barring Kaz? ]

If those guys bother you again... [ He doesn't finish. It's not a threat, it's a promise. ]

You can handle yourself. You're a survivor. Anyone who thinks different is dumb.

But if you need me -- if you need any of us. I'm pretty confident in saying that the rest of the team has your back, too.

[ Bri's the first he texts right after replying to Hikaru's Ireland message. It's taken him by surprise and he's still thinking of the best way to bring it up with the Hounds. No cryptic short messages, he places it as brief as he can. ]

Your father's not being completely honest about that Ireland trip. Word from your other daddy Alistair: Hikaru's feeling down and is falling back into that bad habit of his where he feels he doesn't deserve to have anything good in his life. He goes to Ireland when he feels at his worst.

I've only texted you cause I know you handle things like these very well. I'll probably tell the other Hounds too but in person so I can talk to them better. We need to make Hikaru feel better, but I don't want them mobbing Hikaru and ragging on him about this. Might just make things worse.

[And she's on it. Now the two of you can work through a very large bottle of some of the finest strawberry wine in the Fifth World together, with Black Stone Vanilla cigarettes.]

[ This obviously piques Brianna's curiosity. She might have an idea why Hikaru's suddenly feeling down and why his thoughts may be racing... ]

I most def agree with you. It's not very healthy for him if we keep cornering him. That's why I usually go to see him alone. :( Are you going to tell Josh...?

[ She laughs sheepishly and looks down. ]

[ She raises her gaze up at Josh. It's a thankful kind of look. ]

Thanks. I'm sure we'll find something! Contrary to what people think, it's not really that hard to make me happy. I'm... [ She pauses for a bit. ] ...a bit mababaw like that. [ She says that in the MOST broken Tagalog accent. ]

[ A quiet nod. ]

[ A gentle squeeze on the arm at that. ]

[She takes a hearty sip after the two of them have their little toast, and leans back with a small, admiring smile directed towards their surroundings.]

I have to admit, Brianna, I am kind of surprised that your safe place is a garden.

[ Herp, she knows exactly what Aria is referring to. First, she takes a sip as well, then she smiles and looks down. ]

I really do love gardens. You know me, I like anything pretty.

[ She'll get into more details later on, but she genuinely wants to hear what Aria thinks. ]
