[ Smirking at him now, teasing. Her face falls serious after a few seconds though. ]

So, why'd you have to take me here to talk about it?

[ Of course she'd be offended if her daddy didn't tell her. She just wants to know what exactly his purpose was in hailing her here: whether it's more of flat out telling her, getting a feel of how she'd react, ask for.... permission? or for other reasons. ]

[Chuckling, both because of her statement and because he's honestly relieved at her reaction? Not that she has to know that... but she can probably figure it out...

Anyway.]

Because both of us were worried about how you'd take it. Your opinion matters to us.

[Honesty Mode. Why the hell not? She's his newest daughter.]

[ She knew she matters to the both of them, but for them to actually want to get a feel of how she'd react is kind of a new thing to Brianna. This is... very nice. c: ]

[ She won't tell either of them what she thinks of this situation, not before she knows what went down and how it ended up as such. ]

Do you want the whole, boring build-up, or just how we got to the part of us deciding to make this a thing?

[Because yeah... that first option could be a bit of a story. Granted, Hikaru HAD told her a bit of his own side of things before.]

[ Taking a sip from her coffee. It's cute watching her Daddy be in this really cute awkward teenager-ish state. ]

You can probably get a little more insight on how things went down on his end from him, but... he woke me up in the middle of the night. Apparently, Taning slipped and he ended up realizing that he had liked me for a while. He just didn't know it.

[ Still giving him a teasing look. ]

So you guys talked it through or something?

Yeah.

[He's probably smiling a bit too much right now. To be completely honest, he can't believe that this worked out? Might be too early to say, but given how things COULD have fallen...]

We're going to keep things quiet for now, though.

It's your thing so yeah, makes sense that you would choose to do things according to what would be best for you guys.

Just... [ A short pause. ] Maybe it would be best if certain people find out from you directly, not just from hearsay or gossip. You know what I'm getting at, right?

[ Because despite trying to keep a lid on things, things will eventually surface. Brianna just hopes that Hikaru can handle that. ]

Oh, I plan to. I'm expecting a lot of teasing once I do, as well.

[Rolling his eyes at that.]

This is what happens when you're surrounded by crazy good investigators, or just super-powered almost gods.

Hiding it isn't really going to help.

[He realizes that now. Yes, the possibilities that open up as a result of his decision frighten him. Yes, he isn't sure how things will go from here. He is certain, though, that he is tired of not being able to get what he wants.

Softer now, because the amount of emotion he has invested into this matter is unmistakable.]

[ And she melts away into a schoolgirl-ish grin with her chin in her hands, just smiling up at Hikaru. ]

Blinking at you for a bit before chuckling and pointedly looking away. This is embarrassing.]

[ A small laugh. ]

It's just amusing, sorry.

Because you'd never thought you'd see the day that I'd be like this?

[That seems to be a popular reason with the others, at any rate.]

[ Looking at him in slight surprise. ]

Are you kidding? Of course not! As if I'd even let you just be alone forever. If this didn't happen, I would've probably tried to set you up somewhere down the line!

[ Her initial reaction melts to a smile towards the latter part. ]

Dare I ask who your prospects would have been if you had to set me up?

[Color him curious, even if he can guess who she might be eyeing...]

Not that it matters now.

[ There's a sly smile on her face. Not that she had anyone really specific in mind, especially for something serious. She'd know better than to try to set Hikaru up with someone for a serious relationship, only for it to not work out later on. That's...not a very wise decision. ]

Chuckling, shaking his head in amusement.]
