[Hikaru, of course, drives himself over to Falner Estate. Car this time, because he's pretty sure that a bike is not a good idea for an event like this. Brianna's going to be in a dress, and he's in a suit that Tala picked out for him personally. He'd rather not be killed by both of his daughters.

He's early, early enough to have a cigarette by his car on the driveway before heading up and ringing the doorbell. Brianna's mother is all smiles as she ushers him in, gushes over this and that, then - after settling him down in the living room - flitting off to fetch her daughter.

Honestly? He doesn't know what to feel about tonight. He'd like to think that it's going to be fun, but... well. It's been a while. A long while.]

[ Brianna is doing the finishing touches on her hair and make up when her mom rushes to her door, telling her that Hikaru is here. Her mom is more excited than she is, and she laughs at that.

She's glad that she asked Hikaru among all the other boys or men in her life. This means that there'd be no awkward air whatsoever, and she can be herself. No more flipping through her mind for possible things they can talk about, or having to filter through what goes out of her mouth. Plus, with everything going on around the conspiracy and in her mind, she doesn't really have time for boys and feelings.

Also, this works for both of them: Brianna needs a date, and Hikaru needs to take a break, according to her BFF, Tala. What could be a better break than a formal ball, where they together they can be nasty in a totally innocent way, playfully faking pleasantries with other guests, people watching, making snarky comments here and there and well, getting to know each other.

Not that he already knows tons about me, she tells herself as she puts down her hair brush.

She stands up, smooths her gown, grabs her clutch bag and makes a final check of her hair and makeup before going down the stairs.

She can't contain her excitement as she rushes to greet her Daddy Hikaru with a hug. ]

Hi daddy. Thank you again for doing this for me!

[ Brianna is all smiles as she smooths down her dress again. ]

[And he's standing up the moment he hears her coming, with a ready smile and easy affection: returning the hug, breaking away with a kiss to the cheek, stepping back to admire her properly.]

I'd say it was worth it. You look absolutely wonderful.

[Admittedly, it is refreshing being with someone so... young. He doesn't count the Arcadian years at a time like this. Why should he have to? Brianna is Brianna.]

The boys at the ball are going to try and be all over you, for sure.

[Keyword: 'try'.]

[ Brianna laughs at Hikaru's comment about the boys. While she normally loves dressing up and being fancy just for the heck of it, tonight is going to be mostly about enjoying Hikaru's company (and being in attendance, of course). ]

Sorry I can't make beso, my makeup might transfer to your skin. [ She jokes around. ]

And I'm sure you're going to make it really difficult for them, am I right?

[ She steps back to look at what Hikaru's wearing. Of course, nothing but the best, and she expected no less. ]

You look so nice and spiffy, Daddy! If it wasn't so hot here, I'd tell you to wear a suit everyday.

If I did that, though, it wouldn't be so special.

[Yeah right, Hikaru Shinta. Striking Looks Impossible to Measure.

So he's offering his arm to his date, exchanging final pleasantries with Mrs. Lopez, and taking them both out to his car now.]

Excited?

[ She waves goodbye to her mother, and shouts a goodbye to her father who is somewhere in the house.

She smiles as she steps out with Hikaru. ]

Y'know, you have a point. I do love a special occasion to put on well... [ She looks down at her gown. ]...this.
Besides, you look good whatever you wear!

[ She looks down at her shoes again. ] I'm super excited. How about you?

I'm with you. I'm sure this will be fun.

[It's... not quite an answer, but he didn't lie. ANYWAY, opening the door for you, Brianna, and making sure to shut it like a gentleman once you're settled so that he can take the wheel.

And of course it's a damned sexy beautiful car. Of course.]

[ She smirks at Hikaru, like she's got something up her sleeve. ]

There will be tons of people there. It's gonna be fun.
...or at least we can make it fun. [ She looks at Hikaru in a "if you know what I mean" kind of way. Of course, Tala would have filled her in a bit on how Hikaru is like when it comes to watching people, probably while they were doing the same.

She thanks Hikaru and steps in. And wow the car is super nice. ]

[And he's going around promptly enough, sliding behind the wheel and starting up.]

Should we take our time getting there, or are you perfectly all right with me driving fast?

[ At first, she is serious. Daddy and mommy always told me to drive carefully and always have my friends and drivers do the same but... Her lips melt to a smile. Why not, right? She trusts Hikaru. Plus, she's always game for anything. ]

I'm alright with that!

[ She reaches for the seatbelt though. ]

Great.

[And he waits for her to be safely buckled in before gunning that engine.

Hikaru Shinta puts a whole new definition on that phrase, really.

Yep.]

[ She squeals as the car shoots off and she is clearly enjoying this.
Coolest. Second. Daddy. Ever. ]

THIS IS SO MUCH FUUUUN!!! [ She shouts out over the sound of the engine. ]

[That's enough to make him laugh.

Well. Maybe things were going to be fine.]

So. Should I get us there in ten minutes or less?

[ Adding crazy amazing driving skills to the list of Amazing Daddy Things. ]

Yeah I wouldn't mind. We can even go around the block first before parking! [ She's clearly enjoying herself, and she wants it to be fun for both herself and Hikaru. Wouldn't want to drag him out here just to bore him. Besides, doing this makes her remember the good old World of Light times. Though she's having her fill of adventure with Netsach, it's always nice to return to simpler times, even just for a night. ]

Sounds like a good idea. We're going to have to check around for places to flee to if we end up bored later anyway.

[They could also pre-game, but there's sure to be a LOT of good booze at the party.

There better be, or Jessiah Vice is going to have one unhappy best friend on his hands, and Neeka Zobel de Ayala was going to have one pouty Blade King at her doorstep sometime in the near future.]

[ Brianna nods furiously, agreeing to what Hikaru says.

Formal gatherings only appeal to her because she gets to be all glammed up, but otherwise, she gets terribly bored very quickly. Guests acting extremely stiff and showing off their "finest" jewelry... Ick. ]

Yeah, that would actually be nice. There's probably a nice place around here somewhere we can duck into!

And what's your definition of 'nice'? Clean, well-lighted place, or dark, dangerous and full of evil indulgences?

[Because he is fine with both. Heh.]

[ She thinks about it for a good few seconds. It might be awkward to be in a hole-in-the-wall sort of establishment with a gown on.

But then again... Who cares, right? ]

Let's go for whichever seems to hold a potential for a unforgettable night, yes?

[And now he's slowing down significantly since they've just reached the area - a new section of Makati, deliberately structured to be a wonderland of gardens and 'wholesome' entertainment establishments. The ball itself is taking place in the Aviary, which is one of the top-of-the-line party venues of Metro Manila now.

Young Incorporated built it, together with Ayala Land, funded by Vice Enterprises. Go figure.]

They've got a lot of coffee shops around here, and a few nice restaurants. Let me know if you spot anything interesting.

Great! [ She smiles. It's nice to be in the company of someone who's good with whatever. Still, she wants to be conscious of her decisions. She wants to have fun but she also wants it to be a good night for Hikaru. ]

Oh, we're here! There are a few okay places around here but they're nothing really special. Let's just play it by ear.

Sounds like a plan.

[Pulling up the driveway smoothly, and - interestingly enough - shutting the car off before he steps out. Opening the door for her now, and offering his arm.]

Here we are, indeed.

[Cameras, people everywhere. Time to smile for the camera, and - just because he can - clicking one particular button on that key that starts his car up automatically. It drives off like a good little machine to find a place where it can park itself.]

[ She gets out the car graciously. Like a lady. And she wraps an arm around his, smiling.

In her mind, she's thinking of how some girls and boys...? could probably be punching themselves in envy at the sight of who her date is.

And then Hikaru pulls a trick with his car and she is just blown away, amazed. ]

[Saying that just for her, even as he's already doing the Showman Thing. One must keep up appearances, after all.]

They're talking about us, you know. How shall we proceed, my lady?

[ Jessie comes up with the wildest but smartest things. That guy really is something.

She giggles and walks forward with Hikaru.

She says with a smirk: ] Oh, let them watch. I think we should carry on how we usually do, if you know what I mean. [ Cause we're obviously the most good looking pair here, tihee.

Bitch we're fabulous. ]

[And - just because there's a reporter close at hand, speculating out loud for her audience on why the Blade King has such a young and pretty Lopez for his date tonight - he leans in to kiss her on the cheek.]

Fine by me, love.

[Let them guess. They'll spell things out for them slowly, on their own time.]
