A Late Birthday Party / MAY 26, 2063 Night

[ After a short "vacation" at Tokyo, Brianna sends a text to her friends. It's a general invitation that stretches from her blade mates to her mentors, to well, the whole of Netsach (as long as she knows them. Also extends to some Zangyaku friends). Of course, she asks her parents for permission first. ]

Hello friend! It would make me very happy if you could make it to Haven this Saturday to celebrate my 520th birthday. Drinks on me. :)

[ Leaning by the bar and keeping an eye out so that things run smoothly tonight. Nothing but the best for Tala's new protege, after all, and besides, while Cisco hasn't had the opportunity to really talk to the Changeling, she'd had a chance to observe the girl at Quiapo -- and then there's that little thing about her being Hikaru's most recent "adoption", which makes her smile.

Just like the good, old days, eh? ]

[Saying that, as he's sliding in right beside her. He's constantly doing the rounds, of course.]

[ I.e. their little heart-ripper who is capable of the whole "I am partying and playing police tonight. This is why I am awesome." ]

[ She's long-since accepted that she's starting to sound like her mother: fussy, a repeat offender where it concerns checking up on her children. It doesn't bother her in the least. Gabby Montelibano was an excellent woman who ran herd on seven kids -- not an easy thing. ]

Bit of an achievement that he's around at all. At any rate, he's doing better than Mordechai is.

[Saying that amusedly as his gaze follows the Seer back outside. He's gone in and out a total of twenty times now.]

I wish I could say that I'm surprised he's here because this really isn't his thing but-- [ eyes scanning the area now, sighting Hikaru and Maggie and a bottle of booze ( ah, well ) and then following that up by hunting up Tala's familiar form in the crowd ] --Nope. Not surprised.

[ Not surprised in the least. ]

Heh. Still, it's kind of nice.

[And the precise meaning of that statement might be written in how Cen's eyes are following all of their old comrades, their superiors. All of them in one place again, in spite of everything.]

Smiling in greeting. Would make-beso, but it's always best to gauge the Changeling before strolling casually into her personal space. ]

Can't I have fun while working? [ A look that says: I'm good. Really. ] Besides, I haven't overseen a birthday like this in a while. [ The children are all grown up. And there was never really much time for parties like this once the Darkest Vigil took them in different directions. ]

Brianna looks lovely tonight. [ Nodding to where the girl is currently speaking with her own daughter¹.

And then blinking a little when Maggie's face brightens in a grin and her mouth clearly enunciates I love your dress.

Not sure whether to be thrilled or worried now. ]

[ She spots a familiar face from their Quiapo engagement, and promptly walks up to her. ]

[ Moving from the bar, drink abandoned temporarily -- the staff will watch it for her, this is her other home ( literally, since Cen's made it a point to keep his spacious apartment upstairs ) -- and comes up to Brianna to give the girl a hug.

Whoa. Dem heels.

Cisco's wearing heels as well, but she's short compared to Brianna. ]

Happy birthday, sweetheart-- [ now, have a scrunched up expression that does make her seem... foxlike. ] --and Brianna, just Cisco, please. Or Tita Cisco -- I'll gladly take that.

Especially since you're my blademate's new bff and Hikaru's newest daughter.

[ Teasing, just a little. The smile in her eyes is genuine though. ] You look beautiful.

[ While she wasn't able to talk with Cisco much during their Quiapo engagement, and because that was well... serious, she is so in love with her now. Cisco is so warm, and something about Cisco makes Brianna feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Thank God the women in Netsach are all nice to her. ]

[ She's laughing as Cisco refers to her both as Tala's new bff and Hikaru's newest daughter. }

But usually we make our own. [ Leading Brianna back to the bar because the music is picking up and the dance floor is for dancing after all. Taking her drink again with a nod of thanks to the staff. ] Let me know if there's anything that you need, okay?

[ Angling her head towards her husband. ] I don't know if you've met my husband, but he's doing the rounds tonight. And he likes making sure that things go smoothly here.

If we're not down here, there's always someone up in the mezzanine who can get a hold of us.

[ Yeap, luck. She can attest to that. There are some things that she can't just bat her eyelashes at and they'll go away. She knows that now. ]

Sure! I kinda don't want to bother you though. It'll be really nice if everyone would just have fun tonight, yknow?

[ True enough, she's asking the bartender for another drink. ]

[ Because she's by the bar, with a glass of... well, it's empty now, and she's been looking at her phone every now and then and trying so hard not to injure the next boy's foot with the heels of her stiletto boots.

It's not that she looks out of place, no. She's definitely dressed for the venue, but she totally looks distressed. And maybe bored. And she looks at her phone again, types angrily at it, and then pockets it again.

So much for a fun night, huh? ]

[ Was totally watching that. The boys approaching Yulia, that is. Would have intervened too -- because stupid boys are stupid and she will never understand why some of them don't understand the non-verbal cues of a girl who just wants to be left to her drink.

Thankfully, Yulia has a surprising amount of restraint.

Coming over now, after she orders a Red Dragon and sets it right in front of the Russian. ] Look at it this way, [ leaning back against the counter now, and nodding towards one despondent boy who has been glancing in Yulia's direction even after he'd gotten turned down. ] At least they're ballsy enough to approach you.

[ A beat. ]

Even if-- [ heh ] --it does put their self-preservation instincts in doubt.

[ She was about to protest the drink in front of her, but she sees Cisco. There might be a sigh of relief.

She glances back toward the last kid, frowns, then takes the drink Cisco placed in front of her and halves it in one go. Mmm. ]

I would just like to know what it would take for boys like that to stop. Short of killing one of them, at least.

[ She smiles. ]

[ Smiling back at Yulia and chuckling a little at that statement. ] Some of them do understand the meaning of "no," but on the off-chance that they get particularly pushy, a little show of fang and the threat of bite usually gets the job done.

[ Nodding quietly at the general direction of Yulia's phone. ] Everything alright? By my count, your blade is missing a member.

[ She looks at her phone again, still no replies. Tsk. She taps the side of its case, pondering sending another slightly irritated message, but pockets it instead. ]

He is probably too busy with Rhiannon Group to party. [ Not bitter at all. ]

[ She looks so relaxed tonight; so totally in her element. Should be, her husband owns the bar from what the files say. It's so very different from the slightly-informal but still very prepared and in control way she carried herself at the Quiapo engagement. ]

Good evening, Ma'am. [ Brig smiles at her. He's a bit more relaxed now, having gone around a bit already ] I'd offer you a drink but I'm pretty sure you get drinks for free here. [ He chuckles. It'd be like offering to buy the owner something they already own ]

[ Smiling at Brigade as she leans back against the back of her high seat at the bar. ]

Hello, Brigade. Good to see you.

[ Giving you a motherly once-over and nodding as if to say looking spiffy, son. ] And please, just 'Cisco'. I like pretending I'm still as young as I used to be. [ It's not vanity, not really -- it shows, how well she takes care of herself. ]

And I wouldn't say no to an offer of a drink -- especially from a colleague in Netsach. [ Her eyes drift over the crowd, spots her target and then nods towards that charming ass of a werewolf currently making the rounds. Good job, self. ] Cen manages the bar for Lex now, but my husband's a businessman, so freebies have to be justified.

Ma' [ He catches himself, just like with Deirdra before ]... Cisco, the way you carry yourself, you'd easily pass for one of the kids here. [ Brig chuckles to himself ] I, on the other hand, only wish I could do the same. First time in a club.

[ She chuckles at that. ] But you've been to bars, right?

It's mostly the same -- the music might be louder, the crowd significantly younger, but if you're not exactly there to play the games children play at that age, it's fairly standard.

[ Canting her head to one side, an offer that he join her. ] I'm on watch-duty. And unlike Cen and my daughter who prefer to do the rounds, I've decided to park myself here for the night.

[ It's a good spot. Gives her the perfect view of everything she needs to keep an eye on. ]
