[ She says I'm smart!!! Omg!!! Brianna's face is all smiles. ]
I know what you mean. [ She rolls her eyes at the thought of Taning, Josh and Brig collectively doing their own boy thing. Kaz doesn't count because he doesn't bleed out testosterone. ]
Yeah. i mean, sometimes I feel like a princess with how they're always trying to protect me and make sure I don't get hurt that much but it's... [ She pauses to think about how she can put this gracefully, realizes she can't, then continues. ] They can be gross sometimes. And tactless. Plus they hate shopping and grooming, save for Kaz.
I'm actually referring to how the two of you have more than a few similarities. Rich and influential families, generally charmed World of Light lives outside of the craziness beyond the Veil...
[Need she go on?]
High society children tend to hate each other on principle. To see you two treating each other in an almost filial fashion is refreshing.
[ Brianna thinks about what Lia said with a slightly dazed expression on her face. She takes a big gulp of her drink.
She remembers the huge amount of drama back in ISM, the competition, the backstabbing, the hair-pulling during catfights, the name-calling...the list goes on. Wow, we were terrible people. And to think we called each other friends. ]
Yeah, I guess you're right. I mean don't get me wrong, the friends I left behind are still my friends, but I never really... I never really realized the contrast til you mentioned it.
The "men" in my team are more like boys, really. [ Small laugh. ] But humor me, how are they different? But what? [ She leans in closer with a curious look on her face. ]
Riley, the only man there with actual manners and good intent, can't always be around. Jessiah Vice is an arrogant snob. Lorenzo is more of a pet than a human being, Aidan insists on being a father to us all the time, the man you call your father is a high-functioning sociopath who - fortunately for us - occasionally remembers to have a heart, and don't even get me started on Alistair. And Rethe is an angel, and Calintz Duskrider is a puppy.
[Snark snark bitch bitch snark snark but she really loves them but god.]
[ Brianna's eyes widen in interest. She has no intention of stopping Lia or distracting her with laughs here and there. She simply keeps drinking with both of her eyes on Lia.
When Lia's done with that, Brianna lets out a big laugh, and giggles, covering her mouth.
When she's finally composed herself, she in turn starts describing the boys in her blade. ]
Well, for my blade, you've got this 33 year old man who acts really... creepy sometimes. And don't get me started on that fundoshi! I mean yeah it was funny then but I didn't really have to see that you know. [ Eyeroll. ] Sometimes I feel like he's in the wrong body or something cos he can be really immature sometimes.
[ Drink. ]
And then a really old Promethean, but I don't really mind the age. It's just that I feel like he's such a tough love father figure, always thinking that he should protect me. Like, I mean c'mon I can shoot things! Plus he does all that taser things that's rather out of this world... And he underestimated me the first time we met, but y'know he had like a hundred years over me, and I just got in Netsach. Ugh.
[ Drink. ]
And Josh well, I don't really have any issues with him but he's so painfully shy sometimes, and it gets kinda awkward... And sometimes he's carrying a lot of problems that I feel like I can't talk much and tiptoe around him.
[ She thanks Lia. There goes her pacing, but it's Lia so she has no reason to worry. ]
It's not really so bad. I guess if you describe them like that to other people, yeah they'd probably think that they're a weird bunch. [ A small smile. ]
But... They got my back, so I guess that's okay. I haven't trusted a group of people this fast, no matter how immature they may seem.
Yes, I suppose that's the most important part. I feel the same for my own blade, even if they have their faults.
[Taking another sip of her drink.]
I'm one to talk in that direction, really. Friends are people who love what they love about each other, and accept each other's flaws. That's what I like to think, anyway.
[ Her face falls serious. A bit sad, but more bitter than anything. ]
Some things are hard to forget, I guess. You may push the image out of your head but...
[ She pauses and takes a sip. ]
But there are some things you can never wash off, no matter how hard you scrub.
[ She manages a weak smile. ]
I guess apart from the boys who I know I can trust, the other boys, well... I can never see past the possibility that maybe their intentions are not as innocent as they want you to believe.
I did not quite experience what you did, but I do know a thing or two about loss and not being able to open up to people in that fashion. Intimacy is as beautiful as it is dangerous.
[ She nods. Any advice or words of wisdom from Lia is important. Or well, anything she says to Brianna is. ]
Yeah, you can say that again. And I guess... It just sucks that my uhm, first time happened that way. I had no say in it. Didn't choose who I shared it with.

[It's been a while, okay.]

I know what you mean.

[They BOTH know that Yulia doesn't always count.]

[ Also does not consider Yulia LOL. ]

I know!
[ A sip. ]
So yeah, it's nice to have someone to do all those stuff with. But he's leaving for a month, so I'm gonna miss that.

Uhm, what do you mean our backgrounds? We come from the same... Yknow, economic status... We're not that different, unless you meant something else.

I miss them, but I really like the people here.

The men within the Malice Kings are not quite like the ones on your team, but...
[Wrinkling her nose now. Should she even go there?]

I feel so sorry for you right now. I knew that it was bad, but I didn't know that it was that bad.

Yeah, you can put it that way. It's... a nice change.
no subject
Well, now that we're done complaining with the greatest amount of affection possible... I must know. Interested in anyone?
no subject
Honestly, no, not really. It's not a priority for me right now.
[ And even if I was...]
I'm kind of avoiding boys right now.
